Avid RPG gamers know that in order to game with miniatures effectively it's often necessary to employ the use of a two dimensional grid. This usually results in the employ of the standard square grid. However, the inherent limitation of the square grid is that most radial distances cannot be measured accurately. A better grid for such measurements is composed of congruent hexagons.
The pencil and paper RPG players usually own only a few painted grid maps. Therefore, often times it's easier to simply create a blank page, make a grid with a ruler, and draw what is needed. Not everyone is an artisan or very good at geometry, so making a hexagonal grid could be a time consuming and possibly inaccurate process.
Grim's Hex Paper is a cheap, robust, effective, timely, and accurate solution to all of these obstacles. By installing the font locally on their computer, users get the ability to print out ream after ream of hexagonal grids. It works on any standard word processor or graphics applications.
At present the currently defined tiles for Grim's Hex Paper are:

By repetitively entering the given characters on your keyboard any sort of grid can be created. One peculiarity that is likely noticeable is that the terrain grids do not have any defined outlines. This option was left up to the user to decide to include the outline or not. By simply printing a sheet of the terrain grid and then reinserting it into your printer and printing a sheet of the outline grid you have a combination of both. It's up to you to decide which of the outlines/terrains suits your needs.
In order to support future expansions to Grim's Hex Paper the terrain characters were not given the option to be created at awkward angles (creating various angles for each terrain would quickly consume the allowable key presses not to mention the permutations of different field types meeting the other types). Therefore, it's left to the user to perform one more simple operation. Simply print out the reams of what you want and cut and paste them in the configurations you want to make mixed terrain fields. If you're not satisfied with the sheets being pasted atop one another, then take it to your local photocopy center and now you have a mixed terrain/outlined single hexagonal grid map.
By taking advantage of a computer printer's consistent printing accuracy we can consistently print hexagons which are accurate up to ± 0.01 in. The real world size equivalents for the font sizes of Grim's Hex Paper are (measured from a flat side of the hexagon to its opposing parallel side):
IMPORTANT NOTE: When you print the grids using this font you may notice that there is a small, yet appreciable degree, of separation between vertical lines. Unfortunately, how to correct these gaps is as yet unknown.
